註一：merlot據說是全美人氣第二的紅酒，同時也常被拿來做唇膏色號、顏色大多是紫紅色系。艾絲緹發現她先生嘴巴上的顏色並不是他唇膏的顏色，帳上的珠寶也不是給她的，兩者都是外遇情節裡常有的事，出軌一事罪證確鑿。
註二：Call somebody out在英文裡有「指出某人的錯誤」或是「要某人解釋自己的行為」的意思，雖然沒有斬釘截鐵地講明艾絲緹的先生外遇了，但是綜合註一的兩個理由，主角已經毫不懷疑了。
註三：He did it表示艾絲緹的先生做了某一件事，而這件事正是前一段提到的「外遇」。泰勒絲在這首歌裡很巧妙的唱了兩次副歌的「I think he did it」、一次「They think she did it」和一句「She thinks I did it」但每一次唱的「did it」都指著不同的事：第一次副歌指的是「我認為他有出軌」，第二次副歌則是「我想是他下的手」，而最後一段副歌則是「大家覺得是情婦下的手」而「情婦認為是我下的手」
註四：no body, no crime這句歌詞直翻是說「沒有屍體、沒有罪」，指沒有見到屍體等證據而無法定某個人的罪，言下之意就是沒有有力的證據可以證明艾絲緹的丈夫真的外遇，也因此艾絲緹才發誓"I ain't letting up until the day I die"（直到我進了棺材我才會放棄）但很不幸地，後來艾絲緹就失蹤了。第二段歌詞末，換主角說到"I ain't letting up until the day I die"，可見主角不放過艾絲緹的丈夫的決心，這兩次都是角色作出假設。而從中間bridge的地方就知道艾絲緹的丈夫是被主角殺害的，歌曲最後主角唱到"I wasn't letting up until the day he die"（我本來不會放棄調查 直到他死了的那天）因為是使用“was”，表示這是已經是發生了的事，也就代表著艾絲緹的丈夫真的死了、已經不是假設，也暗暗透露主角的確殺了艾絲緹的丈夫一事。
註五：在報復時，割破對方的輪胎是很常會有的劇情之一。在Carrie Underwood的“Before He Cheats”裡也提到她割破了出軌男友的四個卡車輪胎。因次這句歌詞說到主角在艾絲緹失蹤後注意到艾絲緹的丈夫換了全新的輪胎，言下之意可能是艾絲緹劃破了丈夫卡車的輪胎、和丈夫攤牌對質了，這也因而可以作為丈夫殺害艾絲緹的行兇動機，大大提升丈夫是兇手的可能性。
註六：Good thing在英文裡是"It's a good thing that..."的簡寫，簡單來說就是「幸運的是...」或說「幸好...」。這一整段就在描述一些案件的細節，包括其中有駕船（可能把屍體丟進湖裡？）、清理犯罪現場（解釋她犯案了卻沒被發現的原因）、艾絲緹的妹妹丹妮爾會在法庭上幫忙製造不在場證明。更甚的是，艾絲緹丈夫的情婦竟然拿出一張鉅額壽險保單，如此一來，不但沒有證據可以證明主角是犯案者，大家還會開始懷疑艾絲緹丈夫的情婦是不是為了詐領保險金而殺了他，不過這個案件最後似乎沒有結果，因為"They think she did it but they just can't prove it"，沒有足夠的證據，也因次沒有辦法定任何人的罪，但聽眾得以從歌詞的蛛絲馬跡裡推斷出結果，正是整篇歌詞厲害的地方。
