'tis the season在英文裡就是指聖誕佳節到了，跟It's the most beautiful time of the year有異曲同工之妙，所以泰勒絲有明確提到《'tis the damn season》是一首聖誕歌曲，作為給粉絲的禮物、希望在這個和以往不同的聖誕節用音樂陪伴在家中的大家。
註1：本來不想解釋這個的，不過看國外很多人都寫了對這句的感想😂 “you could call me "babe" for the weekend”說的就是兩人只有短短一個週末的時間在一起，也許過了這個週末這段感情也就跟著過去了。Taylor很常在歌裡面用「週末」這個時間長度來比喻短暫或沒有結果的感情，包括《Blank Space》、《It's Nice to Have a Friend》還有上一張專輯的《cardigan》都有出現過類似的的語句。
註2：《The Road Not Taken》是美國詩人羅伯佛斯特很著名的一首詩，在下我高中就曾在英文課本上讀過還被要求要背下來，原文大意是在說人生抉擇就像岔路，選就沒有機會回頭、只能往下走，而原作者選了比較少人走的那條。所以英文裡的「the road not taken」就是指當時沒有被選到的選項，在這首歌裡的就是指當時Dorothea選擇離開、沒有選擇留在小鎮上和情人長相廝守，回過頭看覺得和情人在一起這個選擇真不錯。
註3：香水也是泰勒絲常用的隱喻之一。在《dorothea》的解釋裡有提到Dorothea和Betty, James還有Inez是就讀同一所學校，在《illicit affairs》裡有提到第三者特別為了James挑選了香水卻不噴抹、只為不留下氣味讓人起疑，那時的香水味是不被想要的、就像那段感情一樣。在《'tis the damn season》將本該充滿喜慶的聖誕節比喻成不好聞的香水味、瀰漫在空氣中，也可能暗指這段戀情雖然不偷不搶、但也很難被接受。
註4：“I won't ask you to wait if you don't ask me to stay（如果你沒開口要我留下，我也不會要你等我）”呼應的正是《dorothea》裡舊情人觀點的“it's never too late to come back to my side（回到我身邊永遠不嫌晚）”，可見兩人對於重新在一起都是有期待的。
註5：延續註4，兩人雖然有所期待，但是Dorothea表明說如果沒有留下就會回到洛杉磯、回到那群光鮮亮麗的「朋友」身邊，這些人只會拿她的成功來寫書做文章，而她只能暗自想著那個能看出她強顏歡笑、讓她忘不掉的靈魂。這段歌詞正是呼應著《dorothea》裡舊情人的疑問“but are you still the same soul I met under the bleachers（但你還保有我在球場看台上認識的靈魂嗎？）”使用「靈魂伴侶(Soulmate)」的含意來講述兩人彷彿天生一對。關於「看出我在強顏歡笑」這個說法在很多年前的《The Way I Loved You》裡也有過類似的歌詞：“He can’t see the smile I’m faking/And my heart’s not breaking/‘Cause I’m not feeling anything at all（他看不出我在假笑/我的心毫無傷痛/因為我沒有任何感覺）"從這裡可以看出Dorothea後面說「我正在讓自己心碎」，表示她是有感覺的/是還喜歡著舊情人的。
